The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of the Army have scheduled initial online public meetings to hear from interested stakeholders on their perspectives on defining "waters of the United States" (WOTUS) and how to implement that definition. This process revises the Trump Administration’s “Navigable Waters Rule,” which is currently in effect and severely undermines the Clean Water Act. The Navigable Waters Rule removed Clean Water Act protections from more than half of the nation’s wetlands and streams, leaving them at risk every day.
Take Action: Attend a public meeting and make comments to call for the repeal of the Navigable Waters Rule and replace with a rule that provides strong protections for our nation’s wetlands and streams. The meetings have limited attendance capacity, so you are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Follow the links below to register. Please note that the August 18th, 23rd, 25th, and 31st meetings are already at capacity.
• August 26, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. Eastern – Registration
The agencies are also accepting written recommendations from members of the public. The deadline to submit written recommendations is September 3, 2021. You may send written feedback by commenting on Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OW-2021-0328.
