IUB approves more solar generation for Alliant Energy

After initially facing a denial from the Iowa Utilities Board, Alliant energyhas approval to construct two solar additional projects totaling 200 megawatts.

The solar fields are located near Creston and Wever, and come after the initial denial and later approval of a similar sized project at the Duane Arnold facility north of Cedar Rapids earlier this year.

IEC Hosts Rural Solar Power Legislator Tours in SE Iowa

State legislators joined solar entrepreneurs and union electricians for tours in Burlington and Ottumwa earlier this month, visiting solar energy projects at schools, a grocery store, a church, and a machine shop, as well as a local home that had benefited from energy-efficiency upgrades.

Legislators heard from the businesses and workers who built the projects as well as the owners, who spoke highly of how solar was slashing their energy costs. Read the full story on IEC's blog.
