Iowa's environment — our water quality, the air we breathe, the integrity of our soil and land — is inextricably tied to our health.
On February 25, we'll take that message directly to Iowa legislators. Whether you're a seasoned policy expert or a first-time advocate, this day is for YOU. We'll fill the Iowa State Capitol with people who care about protecting what's precious in our state: clean water, clean air, public lands, and healthy communities.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. The first 200 people to register get a free t-shirt!
In the morning, we'll gather at a location near the Capitol for a short educational session to learn more about the legislative process and current bills impacting our health and environment. You'll build skills for talking with your legislator about environmental topics, get updates on legislation, and hear from people directly impacted by Iowa's cancer crisis and water and air pollution challenges.
In the afternoon, we'll meet at the Iowa State Capitol, where you can visit IEC member organization display tables and learn more about their work, talk directly with your state legislators, and see a short program and press conference in the Capitol Rotunda.
All individual attendees, organizations, and businesses must pre-register to attend and/or have a display table at Environmental Advocacy Day. Display table priority is given to IEC member organizations, which may reserve display space at no cost as a benefit of membership. Non-member groups may register for a small fee, or choose to be come a member of IEC! Complete the registration process to reserve your table. (New organizational members must be approved by the IEC Board of Directors.)
