The EPA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have proposed a rule change to the “Waters of the U.S.” definition that threaten the Clean Water Act.
The “Waters of the U.S.” Rule defines which waters are under federal jurisdiction through the Clean Water Act. The proposed changes to the Rule would remove several types of waterbodies, such as interstate waters and wetlands, and ephemeral or intermittent streams, from federal jurisdiction.
This change at the federal level would impact Iowa. The Mississippi River Network has created a sample public comment letter that you can use as is to submit your comment. For your convenience, a letter copy addressed to the EPA Docket Center is available on the right side of the page.
