IEC Announces 2020 Pro H2O Award Winners
The Iowa Environmental Council is getting set to host Pro H2O online on September 10, delivering live music, local craft beers and food, and inspiring messages from staff and founders as we celebrate our 25th year. The party will also continue to recognize Iowans doing important work to protect and improve our state’s waterways with our awards program.
We're excited to introduce our 2020 award winners for the Youth Innovation and Business Innovation categories. Shreya Khullar and Caroline Mascardo will receive the Youth Innovation award for their entry in the EPA's "See it Bloom, Give it Room" video contest. The high schoolers' stop motion video highlighted algal bloom dangers.
The Business Innovation award will go to the Wings2Water program with Cedar Rapids' Eastern Iowa Airport. The new non-profit raises money from individual and corporate donations to fund water quality projects in Linn and Johnson Counties. Marty Lenss, Director with the Eastern Iowa Airport, will receive the award at the live virtual event next month.
Make plans now to join us for the virtual celebration on September 10 for live music, drink and snack packages from local craft brewers across Iowa, and recognition of these Iowans and others who have played an important role in protecting Iowa's water during IEC's 25 years.
