Message:

It is critical that Iowa sees federal investment in resiliency and clean energy. As Congress considers measures to rebuild and strengthen our infrastructure, I ask that you stand up for funding local projects that help Iowa respond to extreme weather events and to support policies that expand our state’s clean energy resources. From the Missouri to the Mississippi River, it’s clear that Iowa faces the challenges of a changing climate. Unprecedented weather events, flooding, heat and drought affect all Iowans – urban and rural. The federal government can empower our communities and state to become more resilient by proactively supporting needed natural infrastructure and resiliency investments. We must strengthen our commitment to clean energy infrastructure. Growing our wind and solar resources, making buildings more energy-efficient, modernizing our grid, and connecting Iowa with electric vehicle charging stations will reduce pollution, lower energy costs and deliver local job growth. With meaningful investment, Iowa is poised to capitalize on our existing leadership and deliver on a promise of a clean energy economy.
